There are those adds on the internet claiming to give away free iPods or Playstation 3, or X-box 360s, or whatever. What do those crazy links actualy do?
There is also this " http://www.getitfree.net/ipod/ " site, and it will send you advertising so it seems plausable they could draw to have random participants win.....but these claims are never taken seriously by me. What is the truth behind them? What other info or stuff comes up with these?

Usually adware and spyware that can retrieve information. It's a waste of time, or it's probably coming from a site that earns money from clickcounts.

If they are really true giving you an ipod, then they want something before sending you the ipod.
Usually you have to subscribe to some websites or magazine
If the aren't they are trying to 'steal' information from your computer by installing a certain program.

good for you to ask first about this junk stuff.

You will pay!!! They usually make you complete offers to qualify. By the time you did that you could of bought one yourself, but now you got a bunch of crap you did not want. Nothing is free. Even free programs. They all cost you something, like spyware or, re-write your internet browser so you have to see their ads or even worse, a virus discuised.
