i had a miscarriage before too...and i didnt get d&c...i am ok...my doctor told me before that if my cervix is already closed, then i already pass everything out...but the bleeding will still continue and will stop by itself...i was 3 mos pregnant before...big blood clots came out too... when they checked me, my cervix is already closed...so they said i dont need d&c no more...but if it is still open, they should perform d&c to take everything out...
but still u have to observe yourself and get a blood test to see if your hormone level is going down...if it is then your fine...just wait til your bleeding stops...

To D&C or not to D&C after a miscarriage?
If your miscarriage takes place in the late first trimester, or if you've learned your baby has stopped growing but show no signs of miscarrying, then your doctor may ask you if you want to undergo an operation called a D&C, which stands for "dilation and curettage." In some cases, the procedure is a medical necessity, in which case the answer to whether or not to have a D&C is obvious. But sometimes the doctor will leave it up to you and your preference, which makes for an extremely difficult question to which the answer is very personal for every woman.

If it was big enough to tell what sex it was and all that, she would have lost so much blood she would have either went into shock or died. So either she is lying or you are. I hope a dog doesn't dig up the poor thing.
And to answer your question, if you don't have a d and c after a miscarriage, you could get a horrible infection and be infertile for life. Or die.

Are you serious? They buried the baby in the yard?! You have to be joking. Please tell me you're joking.
If you aren't kidding then you need to tell her to see a doctor. There could be internal problems, blood loss leading to anemia or shock, etc. If everything didn't pass out of her uterus she can get a terrible infection that could cause her to be sterile or even be fatal to her.

Geez, what is it with people making up stories on this site? If she was far enough along to see a penis on the fetus, she would have been showing and people would have known she was pregnant.
