what is the event
who are the audience
when is it
where it is going to happen
how important this is to you
what position are you in to deliver this welcome address,

etc

You didn't mention for what occasion this speech will be for. If it's at the beginning, and I'm assuming so, then it should be very short and simple. You also failed to mention to whom you will be giving this welcome to. If you have to make a welcome speech to the faculty there are certain people you should address first. Welcome to the guests, committee member, chairman or M.C.. Is this a social event?

might help if you said what the audience is there for and how long you have to speak for.
