With my 3rd baby, she is 13 months old now, I started having Braxton Hicks contractions very early on 5-6 months. I had them on and off almost every day until I finally went into labor. My midwife said that these contractions do help with labor. I was having so many of these that I wasn't sure I was in labor until about 3 hours before she was born. The contractions were just like the ones I had been having for months, but then they started coming about 3 minutes apart and getting stronger. When I finally realized I was in labor, I only had 3 hours to go. I think that although they are very annoying, they make labor and delivery easier.

They do help a bit they are just a Way of helping your body prepare for the real thing -so it's like a practise run but without very much progress or results.
