what is pablem and where can i get it? I hope this isn't a dumb question, but I've never had this problem with my other babies. Grace is 5 weeks old and has not slept through a night yet, she goes to sleep easy enough but never stays that way for more than 20 minutes,I've tried letting her cry it out but not only does it just make her more frantic, I can't stand doing that to her,I've tried several other methods too nothing has worked and my maternity leave is over in a matter of days,HELP!!!

No, don't give her Pablum yet. It's rice cereal and she shouldn't have it until she's 6 months. Her little belly won't handle it.

She might have colic. See your pediatrician and ask him/her what is reccommended. There is a brand-new product which adds a safe bacteria to the stomach, and some friends of mine had a great deal of success with it.

Lots of babies take a while to sleep through the night...but at 5 weeks you should be getting at least 4 hours a night. See your doc.

If the problem is that she is hungry when she wakes up then it will not harm her to add a little rice to her milk bottle before bed. I have three children and my first two did not sleep through the night at all, so at 4 weeks I began adding a little of the rice to their night time bottle and they would sleep for about 4 or 5 hours. When they would wake up i just gave them a regular milk bottle and they would go back to sleep. All of my kids are healthy, no allergies of any kind and they have never really been sick, nor are any of them obese or lazy. They are all active healthy children ranging in age from 14 to 9..

If she is waking about every 20 mins she may have colic. You can get her and yourself relief from this with an over the counter colic drops..Ask any pharmacist and they can show you where to find it. Another thing to try is taking a small massager and placing it somewhere in her bed away from her of course, i hung it over the rail of my sons crib and secured it with a piece of string. This gives a vibrating motion which helps soothe colic.

Pablum is baby cereal, that Gerber rice cereal.

It only helps the baby sleep through the night if the problem is that the baby is hungry. And five weeks is a little young to be introducing solid foods.

You may want to consult with Grace's doctor about what might be making her fuss.

It's the very rare five week old who sleeps through the night.

She is only 5 weeks old. Too young to be allowed to cry it out...there is a reason she is waking up every 20 minutes you NEED to learn what her cries mean. Is she wet? Is she hungry? It could be that has colic. I suggest a trip to the doctor and maybe ask if you can have a home aide come in and teach you about taking care of babies since you have no clue.

Babies don't start to sleep through the night until about 12 weeks...... But this is a rice cereal and I wouldn't under any circumstances put it in bubs milk let alone give it to a 5 week old!

Do NOT feed your baby anything but breast milk or formula for the first 6 months. Most babies are just like yours at that age. Babies do not have the right digestive enzymes for anything but milk until 6 months old, and no matter what the old wives tales say, its a very bad idea. You would be putting your child at high risk for food allergies, constipation, digestive problems, and a lifetime of obesity. Its well worth it to deal with a few months of no sleep, to give your child better health for LIFE.

Breast milk or formula ONLY for 6 MONTHS.

At 5 weeks its completly normal for an infant to still wake throughout the night for needings. Bring her to bed and nurse her there, you will both get more sleep.

Giving her any sort of solids can cause serious problems including digestion issues, allergies... even diabetes.

Your child is too young to sleep through the night.

Letting a 5 week old cry it out is abusive and extremely damaging to her brain development, as well as her emotional health. You don't seem to have a clue and you need to get one fast before you destroy your kid
.

Putting a child in day care under one year is severely traumatic and damaging to children.

You need to not go back to work, nurse her to sleep, and let her sleep with you. You know, be an actual mom. She is not a stuffed toy and she is not going to shut up and sit on a shelf while you go about your life.

It's baby cereal, usually rice, given to a baby at bedtime. I always added the dry cereal in a bottle that had a larger hole.
It does help fill their little tummies so they can sleep longer.
My kids never slept through the night at 5 wks.

Do NOT start feeding your baby cereal until she is around 6 months old. If you do, she'll be more likely to develop food allergies and be obese later in life.
