Try meditation.
I know, it sounds trite, but it works. Try this: turn off the computer, television, cell phone, land line ringer, and anything else that might disturb you. Sit quietly for a little bit, however long you like. Watch yourself breathe without controlling it. Let your mind wander, but avoid returning to thoughts that stress you out.
You will eventually start to notice a shift into a calmer, more relaxed state of mind. I'm telling you, if you meditate regularly you will become hooked on that calm feeling, as well as that peace and quiet!
Good luck to you. There is nothing in the world like peace of mind, and most people deserve to have it.

i have found that the only way i can calm myself down, is to slow down my breathing, sit down and close my eyes for a few seconds, if that doesn't work then i go in a quite room, turn the lights off and smoke like there is no tomorrow

I listen to favorite relaxation CD , enjoy the aquarium screensaver I have,sounds weird but the sound of the bubbles is very soothing.Take a long hot bubble bath,have a glass of wine etc...

Laugh I went to college today and make a long story short I was stressed by the time I got home but my B/F made me laugh and I feel better now and also try to shelf your worry (put it away for now)

I go for a long walk, if it evening. otherwise, I would count up to 100 or get out of that atmosphere. Or just watch outside from my office and see the beautiful see, which could be visible from my office room.

I make cookies with green budd butter, then I eat 1or2 of them and this calms me down for the rest of the day and then some

I pray, works every time. I read an article one time that said watching fish lowers your blood pressure, and is supposed to be calming. Do you have a fish tank?
