Me too. We could be quitting buddies if you want. Start on Sunday? Use my contact button and I'll verbally slap you around if you smoke. You can do the same to me.

I smoked 3 packs a day One morning I had enough and quit. The key to any success is will power it never fails. The first 3 days are the hardest but like most drugs nicotine is no longer physically needed after 72 hours. Your desire to smoke after 72 hours is now the issue. Stay strong. Call a friend do anything but don't smoke. Stay away from places and conditions that were your safe smoking areas.IT WORKS. I have been smoke free for 29 years 11 months and15 days. YOU CAN DO THIS AND ITS GREAT.

I'd recommend (along with many of my ex-smoking mates) Allen Carr's book The Easy Way To Stop Smoking. Forget the cynical false logic of people who say "Yeah, but he died of lung cancer, didn't he?" His book is the best method I've ever tried and I have tried everything: patches, inhalers, hypnotism, acupuncture, chewing gum, lozengers.....you name it.
However, I do disagree with him on one thing, which perhaps made a crucial difference to my success in ending a 20 year habit. In the book he tells you not to try to avoid situations where you'd be tempted to smoke or change your daily routine at all. I always thought this was bizarre advice.
As smoking is so much a part of a smoker's routine and way of life, I always thought it would be unavoidable to change them. I made a conscious effort to change my whole way of life, which was decidedly unhealthy in more than just my ciggy habit. The most rewarding of these changes was the simplest; just getting out of the house or office more often and going for a walk whenever I could. I even bought a dog for the company. The exercise made me feel so much more energetic and alive.
We're not talking dramatic changes here which will destroy your identity; you wouldn't suddenly become a boring old f*rt. But you would soon come to see clearly what Carr was saying, uniquely, throughout his book; that the withdrawal pangs that smokers are so irrationally scared of are, when you stop and think about it, easily forgettable.
Don't mourn nicotine - embrace oxygen.
Good luck mate

Cold Turkey is the only way it worked for me.
I got a partner who smokes all the time like a bloomin chimney as well. The smell of the fags after a week was enough to not make me want to keep smoking!
Lots of normal chewing gum and mints also help!

I quit recently and i found the patches good, and also on a night out the inhalers are good to keep your hands busy, but you do get a few people staring because it looks like you have a tampon in your mouth!!!.
