Alot of baby's don't make any sounds at all until much later..Is there any other things that you notice? I have 4 boys and my oldest son has mild cerebral palsy with a right hemipliga--which means he had a stroke while I was in labor and now has a small scar on the brain, only 8cm on the left side Gray matter( witch is good if you have to have a scar somewhere) My son is only affected in that his brain tells him he does not have a right arm or a right leg. So by two month I as his mother noticed he was only using one hand and then when he started to crawl he would roll and only to the left so he would go in a circle. By the time he was 6 months old I had worn the Dr. down by going in every week that he sent me to a neurologist and mom was right something was wrond, but now Michael is going to be 16 years old and he looks and acts just like any other 16 year old.. He had a hard time at times as a child with OT and PT and even surgery's but he did not let it get him down and he plays all sports and I do have to say he plays very well... So don't worry yourself to death it will be fine but listen to your mom instincts and if you really feel that there is something not right keep at the Dr. until that get the answer okay..Kat

Congratulations on your new baby. Parenthood is a really scary thing! You want your baby to be perfect and you can't help but read about what other children are doing and how your little angel compares. The problem is, your child is unique and shouldn't be compared to any other child in that way. Your child is developing differently than your neighbors did, and your first child will develop different than your second child. Take a step back, take a deep breath, and enjoy this time with your baby, it goes by so quickly (I know that everyone says that, but it really is true.) You'll drive yourself nuts with the comparisons! Sooner than you'd like your little girl will be telling the world about things you wish she wouldn't.

The books are only a very rough guide....every baby is different some develop a lot faster then this and some take a bit longer, that doesn't mean they are mentally challenged! Does you bub spend any time with other babies? If not take them to a playgroup of something this might encourage them to be more vocal!

First of all... RELAX. Babies develope at all different stages. Do not go by these online development stages. If this is your first baby, she will probably start saying dada at about 9 1/2 to 11 months. If it is your second or third she/he may pick it up fatser because he/she may copy her older siblings. You will be taking her in for her 9 month visit, and i am sure she is fine. Relax, and just play peek-a-boo, and enjoy every second!

Do not be alarmed. Some babies do not develop as planned. Try to encourage your baby to say things like dada and baba - the first and easiest of sounds made. If your baby is reaching other milestones such as rolling over and begining to balance when sitting up- do not worry!

Every child develops differently. If you feel that your child is not developing correctly talk to your doctor. Don't always go by what websites or others tells you your child should be doing. You child is probably fine but you know him/her best. If you are really worried just go to the doctor and have everything checked out.

I have five children, and I don't think any of them said dada (or anything other than jabbering) at 6 months (and they are all perfectly healthy). Don't worry about it right now. Some babies develop faster than others.

I don't know what state you live in, but search "ECI" Early Childhood Intervention. It is a great program that will assess your "angel" and provide services as needed. They will work with children 0-3.
I pray that it is nothing. Some babies start start out slow. She will probably be really smart!

I would ask your pediatrician first. All babies develop differently. Some are faster than others. It may not be her at all. Just remember that special needs babies need love too. And hopefully there is nothing wrong.
