Why do women go crazy over diamond rings, necklaces etc? Yes diamond rings represent nuptials but on other occasions why do women go crazy, while men go nuts if they get an xbox 360 from their girlfriend/wife.

Young girls learn early on from their families and larger cultural environments that females ought to adorn themselves, especially with rare materials like metals, crystals (gems), stones, resins and so on. And so they learn to like, covet and eventually require those things!
Young boys learn that a man worth his salt ought to have the latest technology, and so they seek out gadgets like Xboxes and huge-screen computers and the like.

Because women like to be admired, mostly by other women. Jewels indicate that not only are we "doing well", but that we have the excess money to spend on such things, which shows that we are sucessful. Even if the item is from another person, it makes us feel that we are worth owning the item, and it generates admiration from others. It also is a physical reminder of the event which brought the jewel to us - a relative's or friend's bequest, a romantic evening, or the satisfaction of purchasing something that we have the money to buy.

I'm an exception to that. I've never been really big on jewels and things like that. You could say that I'm a minimalist and quite prudent when it comes to jewelry. I usually just wear a watch. To put it bluntly, I'd be more excited about receiving roses than jewelry. Do you gals think I'm crazy yet?

We women like all things of value, not something that needs constant repairing, oiling and hammering. Its all about a touch of class. we balance men.
Prehistoric men were known to hunt, they like challenges and hence the love for x box
Women were known to make food and keep clean the place of dwelling and beautify the surroundings. We like all things nice and pretty and hence we love jewellery

I think women like jewels because they like shiny things. And when they wear them, men would say they are stars and beaty, blah blah. But I think when they wear jewels they are actually looking nicer (If they know what is good for them). They feel higher - I think
