i recently combined two symbols together and came up with something cool. i never saw this done with these two symbols and i want to copyright it. should i do it? or would i get into trouble by combining these two symbols and claiming the end result?

no, these symbols arent company symbols. they are just two recognized symbols, you know, like ying and yang or the peace sign. i want to combine my chosen symbols and make something cool. is it okay to do this and then copyright?

Would'nt be plagerising if you come up with a totolly new concept.Copyright it if you wish

When you say "popular" symbols, do you mean the trademarks of well known companies? If people can recognize the original marks even though creatively adapted by you, then you can expect an infringement action.

Your originality is not in dispute, just the damage it might cause others.

I think it would be. If you're selling or displaying the end product as your own (specifically selling for profit) I think you could get sued, depending on the owner of the original image.
