another and it's very handy but sometimes I get a message that the device cannot be stopped and safely removed now and to try again later. This is very bad when I need to get a file moved on a deadline. Once I just yanked the thing out and ran it over to the other computer. It worked fine but I got a nasty message on my first computer that I could suffer serious consequences for my inconsiderate behaviour. (In computer talk, of course.) So what is going on? Why cannot the thing be stopped? It doesn't look like it possesses a lot fo moving parts. It's only about as big as a car key. Why is it a big deal to unplug it. And what consequences might my computer suffer for premature withdrawal?

Try to press ctrl + alt + del and find out if there are any applications and processes still running that involve your USB drive. Otherwise you have to make sure that all your works have been properly saved to the drive before just pulling it out. the message is just a precaution to avoid any loss of data that you might suffer.

It rather relies upon on what you have linked on your computing device. some laptops handle the floppy stress and CD stress as 'detachable drives' in the event that they are able to be bumped off to furnish area for one extra battery. usually nevertheless, almost any USB device which you plug into your computing device - Freeview stick, reminiscence stick / Pen stress, etc is 'fastened' so tha the computing device treats it as no count number if it rather is a fastened part of the equipment. in case you click on the tiny icon (a eco-friendly arrow on a grey rectangle) and decide the yellow banner, you could tell the computing device which you do no longer want to apply that merchandise any extra. the computing device unmounts the device allowing it to be bumped off properly. the protection factor is definitely to do with making particular that the computing device is carefully complete with the device - extremely than something risky. As part of it rather is 'housework' equipment, the computing device will robotically create and delete archives interior the history which you at the instant are not responsive to. Telling the computing device which you extremely want to eliminate a device ability that it could tidy up any archives linked with that device and confirm which you do no longer lose any archives because it rather is being copied. in case you have 'bumped off' or 'ejected' a device via mistake, you could the two pull out the reminiscence stick / pen stress and reinsert it to apply it lower back or you will possibly be able to might desire to restart the computing device if the device is a floppy stress or CD stress (interior the case of a working laptop or computing device).

Hello,,

Its not a premature withdrawal, its the rough pull and tug that may have caused the problem. These usb flash drives r very handy,,and u r right they dont have any moving parts, but they do have a connector. and they r quite delicate, if u drop it hard enuf they will probably shatter, .just use a little TLC when removing and inserting the drive and u will be spared the grief

Most likely, your computer will not suffer if you unplug it too soon. You may end up losing data on the thumb drive, though. I'm not exactly sure why. I just know it can happen, because it happened to a classmate of mine.
