Should you try to keep the numbers as low as possible.. or should you try to keep the numbers within the normal range?
I am confused as to what is correct. My range is less than 120. so should i be okay if my numbers are 115 and higher... so should i make it a goal to watch everything that goes into my mouth to keep it as low as possible.
Sometimes i know that i hsouldnt eat something... but it wont hurt my numbers that much..so i still have it..
i guess i am repeating myself too much... but i hope u get what i mean. low numbers or within a range is fine?

You really should stay within a range. If your numbers get too low, you can have bad complications --- just as bad as going too high.

Low is probably better 120-140 range is good for about 1-2 hrs after a meal. When you wake in the morning it should be about 75-90. anything below 70 is to low and you should drink about 2-4 onces of juice to get it up. If it gets to low you will feel it. Anything higher than 160 is too high. You should see a nutrionist. They can help you understand what kinds of things you should stay away from. Soda is probably the worst. I know it is hard to watch everything. You just have to wathc carbs and sugar. Sugar free is better. Splenda is a great alternative. there are many factors there are good carbs and bad so please find out about them. Sweats aren't the only thing that causes your blood sugar to go up. hope that helps

Within the range. If the numbers get too low you will have other problems. 115 is fine.

Starving yourself of glucose (sugar) can cause your body to go into a starvation state where it switches to a different energy form where we use ketones instead of glucose. High levels of ketones are potentially VERY damaging to fetal brain tissue. I've seen this happen when women are on strict Atkin's diets during pregnancy. Chronic lows can be as bad as chronic highs.

Also, your body and baby need glucose to grow and work. You need to shoot for the normal range for blood sugars, 80-120. This will be higher immediately after meals and lower when you've been fasting (sleeping).

I know it's really hard, I was put on the GD diet for a couple weeks when I failed my glucose tests and then threw up the sugar drink at my 3 hour test. You should have been put in contact with a dietitian and diabetic counselor when you were diagnosed. If you weren't call your OB and ask her to refer you to one, insurance should cover it.

Congrats and good luck!

If you can keep your blood sugar within the normal range, you'll probably be fine. Ask your doctor to be sure.
