Yes, a landlord cannot enter your apartment without a notice which I believe is 24 or 48 hours prior. There are special circumstances like fire and other emergencies(water, electrical, gas). For the pictures, they need to give you a wavier to sign if they try to use any photos, except if they are used to evict you.

I don't know if it's legal in Michigan, but it's illegal according to my contract. It should be mentioned in your contract, so read it. In some cases, it might be okay. It depends. Ask your landlord, why they broke into your house. And for taking pictures...sounds scary =_=;;; why do they want pictures of your stuff? There must be some reason for doing this. I think that is invading your privacy and they should not be allowed to do that at any circumstances. Tell them that if they do this again, you'll call the police or somthing. Scary~~~!

You need to check your lease. If you are renting from a single person and not a corporation, then who know what was included or not included in your lease. If the lease specifies that they will leave written notice, you need to talk with your land lord. At my apartment they are getting ready to do renovations and something similar happened to me. i walked in on people taking pictures of my place.(Turns out it was just of the cabinetry and appliances) They had put a notice on my door(it had blown off apparently in the wind because all my neighbors got one also.) but I was in the shower when they knocked... Luckily I was dressed when I came downstairs. First read your lease, then talk to the landlord and ask to see the pictures. It might turn out to be as benign as what happened to me.

yes it is, once you signed the lease it becomes your property unless you violated something in the lease or it was some criminal activity or property damage. he was suppose to let you know in advance if he was going to come by. even if no one seem to be home he violated your privacy when he brought others into your home without your permission. you can call the tenant union on him and they will file a complaint against him and they will tell you what can be done. its called the tenant union here in Illinois look it up in the phone book or call 411.

No it is illegal. they need prior written consent, and an appointment to enter. they should no be taking pics of your items. Are they casing your house? You should call the police and have them come out. You should have it on record in case anything is ever missing!

You need more information....there may have been a problem with one of the surronding Apts..and they were checking for damage spreading...Based soely on what you said....it is a minor tort...NOT a crimminal offense...if he damaged anything...you can make him pay...but not much here unless again..he does it on a regular basis...
There are to many factors to make a call...DID YOU CALL HIM AND ASK WHY?...if you feel you are wronged call a lawyer...In my opinion..you dont have much of a case...but good luck....
