.ocx is a file used in the ActiveX.
.exe is a executable file used to make a program run.
You need to know what the filename you need is. Example is Process Explorer. It a very simple stand alone program. Procexp.exe
If, you wanted this program then you would do a search for; procexp.exe
The search returns Sysinternals; http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx and I can go there and find the zip file to download.
