I've been through it three times. It's pretty easy.
You use ovulation kits (the ones that you pee on) to determine when you are about to ovulate. Then, when it says that you are, you go in and have your husband give a sperm sample. They "wash" it and get it ready to implant into you. It takes a few hours or maybe less depending on the clinic. Then you go in and they insert a little tube through the opening in the cervix. There is a bit of cramping, but it's easy to breathe through it. They squirt the washed sperm into you and then they tilt you back slightly. You stay that way for about 20 minutes or so. After that they say it's ok to do whatever, but I layed in the back seat of the car and then took it easy for the next few hours.
It's an easy process. The cramping isn't that bad. It feels wierd. It should cost $500-$600 per time. I always did it twice per month.
Good Luck!!! If you don't ovulate regularly, they may have you use clomid.

i m taking iui treatment, this is the third time we are trying, 1st time i got pregnant but had miscariage, 2nd cycle was negative and dont know abt the third one:) But i am hpeful and have full confidence on God:)
An IUI -- intrauterine insemination -- is performed by threading a very thin flexible catheter through the cervix and injecting washed sperm directly into the uterus. The whole process doesn't take very long — it usually only requires the insertion of a speculum and then the catheter, a process that maybe takes a couple of minutes (60-90 seconds to introduce the catheter, then sperm injection, and another 60 seconds or so to remove the catheter — going slowly helps reduce discomfort). Sometimes when the cervix is hard to reach a tenaculum is used to hold the cervix, which makes the process a bit more uncomfortable.
Chances become more brighter after IUI but not very much high.
If you are going for IUI Best of Luck:)

IUI, treatment; is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.
My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
