My life to me is no brief candle. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a while, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations. -George Bernard Shaw
This really speaks to me because I want to make the most of my life that I can...helping people, loving people, making an impact with kindness. I want to spread light to other people.

Never say never. It always seems that just when I say "never" god works in wounderous ways and lets me know that there is nothing that is "never".
Examples: When I left North Dakota in 1979 I told my parents that I would never move back here for any reason. When my husband tried several ways to kill me I found I had to eat my words and come back to safety. I was told from the time I was 16, by my doctors, that I would "never" be able to have children. It hurt, but I lived with it until I was 40 and had a beautiful baby boy born prematurely,

"Put up in a place where it's easy to see
The cryptic admonishment 'TTT.'
Then, no matter how depressingly slowly you climb,
It's well to remember that 'Things Take Time.'"
This little verse by Danish physicist and poet, Piet Hein, and has been a favorite of mine for 40 years.

"It is better to be a live dog than a dead lion"
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. - For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. - Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in any thing that is done under the sun.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. --Winston Churchill

"It can't rain all the time" from the movie THE CROW. It helps remind me that even if things aren't going so well, it'll turn around.
