A knife? Why on earth would you do that? =P

Anyways.. In most of the shinobi clans, and they still do exist today, each have a way of throwing "darts" of various shapes and sizes - shuriken jutsu- Specifically, Bo shuriken for this Q (they resemble needles, but in some schools, they resemble kunai - dagger like darts).

These shuriken can be thrown with or without spinning, depending on the range - the further the target, the more spin that is required to make it penetrate at that range.. generally, there is no spin needed between 0-1.5m.

You might want to join a school specialising in taijutsu if you want to learn shuriken jutsu.

Yes, it is, but only if the intended target is 6 ft. away or less. To accomplish, this take the knife by the handle or grip with the tip pointing to your target, and throw it as you would a baseball, there will be no spin at this distance any further and the knife will start to spin.
Learn how I learned the old fashioned way, practice, practice.

Add some common sense to your question and the answer will be yes. For example, when you fly a paper airplane, why does it fly strange? It all depend on how the knife were designed for.

no it always spins, and they turn a flip and a half every three feet, so if you can judge the distance to the target you should make it stick every time. good luck.
