There are thousands of forums out there, and even more if you count "newsgroups" and "mailing lists".
So I guess it depends on what you consider to be "important" and "interesting."
You might want to just shop for groups on these large sites though as a starter... there will be all kinds of crafts, as well as many other topics that aren't craft or hobby related:

Depends on what is interesting for you :) I am interested in modeling, fashion, beauty and similar topics, so i like jurgita.com forum.
