Why are the western teams better than the east? What is the root cause?

The western teams are consistently better. It's not just this season. As far back as I can remember, this has been the case. So don't say, "injuries".

the westerners have always been better as you said. I believe it is because they pick better players and they have better coaches. There have also been a lot of really good teams in the west over the years and the west teams are consistent with winning they hardly lose. . The east has had a lot of good teams. (bulls with michea, the celtics with Larry Bird and Bill Russell, pistons with Isaiah thomas, philly with Dr. J and a ton more)

if you look at it closely, the west have 7 teams on .500 and better while the east have 6 teams. so it means they are almost at the same footing.

however, the top 4 teams in the west clearly have a big gap on the top 4 teams from the east. dallas, phx, sa and utah have been destroying both east and west opponents.

east sucks right now becasue of the talent factor. all the great talent built 8 years ago (after MJ) are now dominating the nba. its a cyclical thing. in 2-3 years youre gonna see the dominance of the east with lebron, d-wade, bosh etc leading the way

The teams in the West are so much better than the teams in the East. It is possible that a few teams from the East will make the playoffs with losing records.

Because most Western Conference Teams win against Eastern Conference teams.

Because the West has a better record against the East and also in the east there are no teams who dominate another so the W-L are more evenly spread out.

Nah. The Pistons are possibly going to have a stable season, even possibly take care of a playoff spot. yet they have not have been given any shot at triumphing all of it. it will be some years in the previous they're lower back to being a contender interior the East. yet they have made some stable steps so a techniques, hiring new coach Lawrence Frank and drafting factor look after Brandon Knight. After quite a few years of questionable strikes, Joe Dumars has made some stable judgements recently.

The West plays a better style than the East, and plays better team basketball. They play more physical and uptempo with better offensive and defensive sets. Also, the more star power the West has also helps.

Well.. with setting Portland aside, considering the only thing they're good at is losing...... Usually the Western teams have a well rounded group of strong players, rather then a select few..

Because the teams in the East are incredibly weak.

Because West teams have more depth and talent, so teams like the Rockets play well even without Yao Ming for 30 games, while the pistons have scrubs like lindsey hunter coming off the bench so they suck even more when one of their starters isn't playing.
