will i be able to understand the story if i start watching the tv series first before the ova??.. thanks!

I saw the OVA first, I think it is okay to start with this.

First you should watch the 3 episodes OVA because you'll follow the adventure of Yomiko Readman who will appear in the TV series. She is not alone, some other major caracters from the OVA are in the TV series.
So it is better to watch the OVA then follow the 3 sisters. And one of the heroin of the TV series has a special link with Yomiko so that's another reason to see the OVA first.

The OVA first, it will provide the background story on Nenene and Yumeko, while R.O.D. the T.V. mostly featured M.A.M. (Michelle, Anita, and Maggie) as the main characters.
But yes, you can still know the story if you start with R.O.D. the T.V.
Hmmm... I wonder if I will get more entertainment of watching Kokoro Shokan. I don't know, I'm getting bored of action scenes these days, and Iina is as attractive as Michelle.
