If i am doing a report on how long it takes for a tablet to dissolve in water for a certain temperature, should I put time on the x-axis and temperature on the y-axis, or should it be the other way around?

The x-axis is ALMOST always the independent variable.

In your description of the experiment, you are controlling the the water temperature, so that is the independent variable. The time to dissolve is the dependent variable. You are not controlling it; it DEPENDS on the temperature, so it is the dependent variable and should go on the y-axis.

Generally you put what you varied on the x-axis. In this case, you varied temperature, so put it on the x-axis and your measurement of how long it took on the y-axis.
