It depends on who you're asking the question.
We're not really policing the world, thats just what the sign out front says, but hidden behind the sign are the police crack-downs and raids of other country's treasure. Check out the National Endowment for Democracy web site for examples. Policing the world is just a convenient excuse that Americans love to believe, to go along with these actions.
This government is so shrewd, they can fleece the public out of anything they want.

Do you know the history of "White man's burden"? In 19th century, the Britishers became hungry for power and began to conquer all the countries under the name of civilising them. Thus they established no Sunset empire. Now the America is trying to get rid of all counttries from which it has fear of advancing in technology and money than them. Because I need American to watch my Governments and noone in the world could handle rich, power and fame very well! Only America & Briton could! WWI & WWII are a very good example already otherwise I am still speaking JAP!

We have the resources and money. Other countries have called upon us for help. The trouble is we bail them out and then it is Yankee go home. Next thing you know we are at war with them or putting an embargo on them or something. Also much of it was to block the spread of Communism by the USSR.

I dont think we should be the police of the world. I personally think that our country needs to focus more on our own problems and issues to address rather than try to fix problems that have nothing to do with our national interests.

And it is not "WE" America--it is the President and the President needs to get his priorities straight. Yes, the rest of the world's issues are important insofar as what the ramifications are to the USA, but the USA's problems should be the priority. If we cannot take care of ourselves, who is going to believe we can take care of any other country?

Liberals such as yourself often complain that we "police" the world and try to stop us from doing so. But when those countries that you want us to stop "policing" turn into 3rd world countries, you are the first to complain about us not doing enough to prevent it.
