Sometimes I think I would die a young hero, who saved the world at least...
Right now I am inclined to lead a fulfilling life and die old and gracefully...

Are you thinking of yourself? Personally, I would like to lead a fulfilling life and die old and gracefully. I'd like that alot.
But, if dying young and being a 'hero' means that by my death, others could live and they live a long, fulfilling life, haven't they lived for you?
If that decision ever came, I'd have to think twice, wouldn't you?

A hundred years from now it will be better to have been the hero, however the fulfilling life seems more appealing if it means that I'm still alive today.
