The only time I was physically assaulted was by a student who punched me and kicked me --I used to teach a class of troubled youth -- ages 12-- 14 -- and I was not happy.--surprise surprise
I just sent him to the principal and he got suspended for a couple of days.
If I am assaulted verbally , I would speak up for myself but would not stoop to that person's level. If it's a friend , then that upsets me and I usually cry first and then speak up a day or two later.

If it isnt bad, like verbal, Id ignore it, Physical however, Id take it to the police, and if it worsenes, Id deal with it myself, but the police path is ALWAYS the most mature, and right path.
