The rainbow flag is a historical gay symbol. Who cares if it's "cool" or not? It has deep historical roots in the gay rights movement.

at the same time as the classic rainbow arc is a 'non secular image' the rainbow used to coach gay satisfaction is definitely a 'banner' ... that's a appealing banner with its many colorations all lined up, edge via edge. and thanks to this the rainbow banner or 'flag' (no longer the 'arc,' that's the colors suitable to backside) is used. each 'shade' represents human beings in 'actual existence' ... we are available lots of colorations and many varieties, yet see how appealing all of us are as quickly as we stand edge via edge? this is the 'message' in the back of the gay satisfaction Rainbow banners and flags ... and that i think its a message that something of the international desires to a minimum of think of approximately ... i'm a on the instant female, fifty seven, yet I certainly have been a supporter of gay human beings for the reason that i become a seven 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old ... and that i nonetheless am a supporter of gay rights. i think that MY rights are made to signify much less whilst gays and others can not proportion them with me ... this is purely whilst every person shares something that it rather turns into equivalent ... so i'm for gay marriages, gay agencies, and gay human beings. for the reason that I worked for and with gays throughout my professional profession (psychologist) I certainly have been informed i'm no longer a 'fag hag' yet an HONORARY gay guy ... and that i'm particularly pleased with that for the reason that i'm a satisfied married on the instant female. If gays can 'attain out' like that to me, why can not others attain out in a similar way in the direction of gays. i do no longer understand ... I only don't comprehend.

Do you know the history behind our flag? Or at least what it means? Once you know the story, it's a lot more interesting. Sure, it's kind of tacky and it's a loud accessory as a broach, but I love it. There's no way to hide a rainbow, after all.
Rainbows in many culture represent diversity and social change. Generally, here's what our colors represent (though this is up to debate);
Red = Life
Orange = Healing
Yellow = Sunlight
Green = Nature
Blue = Serenity
Purple = Spirit

The rainbow flag "thing" represents the many facets of the glbtq community, all it's races, cultural backgrounds, personal interests and diversity.
The yin/yang is simply a black and white representation of good/evil or wholesome/temptation or complacent/argumentative. It's just not as all encompassing as the rainbow flag.

Sorry if you don't like it but it has been well adopted for about 30 years now. The colors represent the diversity within our numbers and the components that make us who we are.
The original flag had eight stripes, each color representing a component of the community (I had to look this part up because I couldn't remember the exact details):
1. Hot Pink for Sex
2. Red for Life
3. Orange for Healing
4. Yellow for Sun
5. Green for Nature
6. Turquoise for Art
7. Indigo for Harmony
8. Violet for Spirit.
Due to limitations in construction they had to limit the number of colors and pink & turquoise were retired to create the more standard spectrum.
Yin & yang are already taken so I would suggest coming up with something original. No one would stop you if you come up with a new symbol. There are others out there (Lamda, Pink Triangle, Black Triangle, BMSD flag etc.)

Your ignorance is showing.
Investigate the history of your culture before you make suggestions on changes! Would you ask the Jews to change the Star of David because you're bored of it??

If it bothers you that much don't wear anything with a rainbow on it. Personally it doesn't bother me.
