it could be any of the following reasons, or maybe some i forgot to mention.

because...
you got lucky.
he has a low/no sperm count
one of you was not sexually mature
you have no eggs
you did not have sex with a man
the two of you are not compatable (some couples can not conceive with each other, but have no problem with other mates)
you were not ovulating.

For one you can only get pregnant when you are ovulating. Ovulating is when an egg or more is released. So if you have sex around three days before you begin to ovulate you might get pregnant. But there is actually a short period of time in the month ( like hours) that you can get pregnant. So the reason you did not get pregnant is because you were not ovulating.

You were not ovulating at the time you had sex, meaning you had no ripe egg ready when you had intercourse. If you have a regular 28 day cycle, ovulation usually occurs mid-cycle, approximately 14 days before or after the first day of a period.

You have to be ovulating in order to get pregnant and even then you may not get pregnant. It can take months-years to happen. If you had a period the day before then your egg had no chance of getting fertilized. You are only fertile for about 5 days. Go to babycenter.com for more info on getting pregnant.

you would not have been ovulating for another week, so it would be rather difficult, although not impossible, to get pregnant at this time in your cycle. And even if you were ovulating, having sex does not mean you are defenitely going to get pregnant. those sperm have a long and dangerous journey to get up to the egg :)

If you have a regular cycle, then you were not ovulating at that time. However, you should be very careful not to have casual unprotected sex.
