I don't know what kind of scanner/printer you have, so I have an answer that might help you out. Here goes:
Put the picture you want to scan in the top on the glass, face down.
Go to your computer and click on the Start button then choose Control Panel and look for Scanners and Cameras. Your scanner should be listed in there. Double click the icon for it and follow the instructions on the screen. Make sure you are changing file names if you want to when the screen pops up to do so.
Make sure you do a preview so that you can change the dotted line margins to surround your picture and not a bunch of extra white background stuff.
When the picture is scanned, you click the finish button and it should open the folder where you scanned your picture to and open up the picture. (this is usually the My Pictures folder found in the My Documents folder).
Good luck!

If you have a Photo program on your computer you can do it through that. Just click on copy from scanner. and it will scan it in. Or your scanner should have a button to scan it on to your computer. Its pretty easy to do. Good luck!
