In your opinion. Why?

Strauss, Wagner and Nietzsche were pretty hateful, elitist types.

Gesualdo was quite the character. Married his cousin and killed people.

The music itself... My list of favorite power music:
The beginning of the last mvt of Bruckner 8. The whole mvt gets pretty repetitative, but you get the point in the first minute.
Tchaik 4-6.
The Tuba Mirum in the Verdi and Berlioz Requiems.
Mahler!
Shostakovich 10, mvt 2
Stravinsky, Firebird
Great Gate of Kiev from Pictures at an Exhibition

Okay, after making a brief favs list, Mahler rises to the top of the list. My vote is for Mahler based on music, and Gesualdo based on his life.
