I know that each individual has to listen to a different "style" of music. But, if you have to make a list of at least 5 (no more than 10) different "styles," with the number 1 being your fav. "style" in the world, what would it be, and why?

So far, we got a lot of great answers in here, and it's going to be very difficult for me to decide the overall winner. I want to make this as open and honest as I can, so, I know how to vote for myself on questions I answer (which you can't do on your own questions, it's just not right!), and I know some of ya's do, and some of ya's don't. So, I'm asking each and everyone of ya's to vote for whoever you think should get the answer the best, based on the answer(s) provided. but, just so ya's know, I'm gonna let this sit here, and wait for 'bout a week! Until then..........

No Doubt about it...
1. Jazz. The complicated structrural style and intricate musical journeys are perfect for any occasion.

and since you ask for five or more...

2. Ballads - usually packs a wallop at some point within the song. (i.e. Without You by Harry Nilsson or I Will Always Love You by Crackney Houston.

3. Torch - A deeply painful Ballad....

4. Classic Rock - (Creedence, Beatles, Stones, Etc.)

5. R & B - (Aretha, Gladys, Staple Singers, Temptations and on and on and on....)

I would have to say Electronic/Dance. It is my #1 favourite music genre because it is extremely varied from Dance-pop to Rave, from Gospel-House to Latin House, Latin Freestyle, Funky Breaks, Vocal Trance, Hi-NRG, and Eurodance. Since it is split into two different subgenre House and Techno, then each subgenre has many various styles within them, I do not get bored with it. Contrary to popular belief, it is not unpopular. I can see how one would think that since very few of the genre's artists or producers are in the eyes of the Paparazzi. Why people think that is because the mainstream only allows a few projects, groups or solo artists to get through to the mass public. It usually very commerical fodder which is Dance-pop with a club oriented edge. That can hardly be considered "techno."

Since the vast majority of people who come in contact with it are so uneducated about it, the dismiss it. That is what most people do when they do not understand something. There are many fabulous singer/songwriters and groups in the extremely vast world of Electronic/Dance genre music. Most of the artist, groups and/or projects I know of do pleasant music that really get one over a bad day, week or year. Some of the artists such as Kristine W., Billie Ray Martin, Martha Wash, Vernessa Mitchell, Stephanie Cook, Dennis Ferrer, Byron Stingily, etc. feature optimistic, positive, uplifting lyrics. I find it very soothing.

I enjoy many other styles of music such as Smooth Jazz, Quiet Storm, Urban contemporary, New Jack Swing, Contemporary R&B, Soul-Blues, Adult Contemporary, Latin Pop, Salsa, Merengue, Euro-pop, Pop/Rock, etc.

Visit the websites below to learn more about Electronic/Dance music and its artists, especially the non commerical, non mainstream artists.
