Hello all, this is my first time asking a question.... I'm currently 8 days late for my period, I'm nauseous, extrememly light-headed and dizzy. My basal body temperature has risen by 0.5 degree, but all preg tests come back negative. I rang my doc yesterday and he told me it may not show positive for another week or 2. My husband and I have only been trying for 1 month and unfortunately I had a still-born baby last time, so I'm completely paranoid with what is happening to me and I just want to know if I'm pregnant or not. Does anyone experience the same symptoms and getting negative results? When did you get a positive result? Oh and today I've been experiencing brown spotting, what does that mean??? Thanks!! MD

It could be too early for a positive pregnancy test, especially if you tend to have irregular periods. It should be positive 12-14 days after conception.

The symptoms you are experiencing are not related to pregnancy. If the level of HCG was high enough to cause nausea, it would definitely be high enough for a positive HCG.

The spotting could be implantation bleeding, in which case you should have a positive test, very soon. Or, the spotting could be a sign that a pregnancy just didn't take hold this time.

Do like your doctor said, repeat the test. Don't repeat it too soon, you will only make yourself crazy.
Try to relax and take good care of yourself. This is all horribly stressful, I know.
If it doesn't work out this time, then better luck next time. Don't worry, you were pregnant before, you can do it again.

I had a stillbirth at 37 weeks my last pregnancy, and I can almost feel your anxiety! I'm 17 weeks pregnant now, and it didn't show up on a home test until atleast a week after my period should have started. If you really need to know right away, there should be a doctor in the area who will get you in quickly and do a blood test. It measures the exact amount of pregnancy hormone and should let you know for sure one way or the other. The brown spotting could possibly be plantation spotting (spotting that happens when the fertilized egg implants in the uterine lining), or it may be the beginning of your period. As awful as it sounds, your best bet is probably to just wait a little while longer and see what happens. It won't hurt to start taking prenatal vitamins either. My doctor advised me to take them while I was trying to conceive.

Sometimes when you are pregnant you can get brown spotting that is just old blood. But you may be delaying your period by wanting to be pregnant so bad. Mental things can do weird stuff to our bodies. My husband and I tried for over 3 years before I got pregnant with our daughter. It is very common to get negative results...but being that late, it should be showing positive by now. I would see a doctor and have them do a blood test so you know for sure. Good luck! I do know what you are going through, it can get rough if it doesn't happen quick enough for you, but don't let it get you down.
I too lost my first one, but I was 6 months pregnant when I lost him, my next one was a healthy girl 14 years ago and sadly l lost another one just 3 years ago.

It does sound like you are pregnant.
But I would do as the other person said, wait a bit longer and try the test at home again. Then if that it positive, do another one! Then go to the doctor. At least with two positive tests behind you, you won't feel like a twit when you go to the doctor.
I really hope you are pregnant - Good luck to you!
P.S. Has there been much brown spotting? I am going through the same thing as you at the moment.

Sounds like you are pregnant. Brown spotting is old blood thats all there is nothing to worry about with the brown its when it turns red and is heavy that you are to be cautious. With the test I had this happen to me I took the test a week after my period and got 2 negetives I waited another week and sure enough we didnt even have to wait the 2 mins it was positive withing 30 seconds.

I pray you are pregnant and please let us know if you are!

The doctor's right. It can take a bit for the hormones to get high enough to register on a pregnancy test. I had some spotting when I was pregnant with my daughter, and the OB told me it was from the egg implanting. Try not to worry about another miscarriage. I miscarried my first and went on to have a perfectly normal daughter (she's four now). Many women miscarry their first pregnancy.

I had two neg pregnancy test before I received a positive one. One of the tests had a faint line almost couldn't see it. Your HCG levels may not be real strong right now. Just remember to take it easy until you find out for sure. Don't do any heavy lifting. With my first pregnacny it took us two years. With my second it took one month I was shocked I figured it would take another two years. Needless to say my kiddos are 17 mo apart.

I think you are pregnant, if you feel nausea in the morning it's the chance that you are pregnant, I had the same experience, and also had brown spotting before my test was possitive. So just be possitive and wait for few more days, it might be too early to show a possitive result.

The brown spotting could be nothing. Or you may be getting ready to start your period. Wait 5 more days and if you have not gotten your period try taking another test.
Good luck
