A black rose is not really black but a deep red. Sometimes the bud is almost black. They are grown like any other standard rose bush. Jackson and Perkins (the kings of local roses) offer a few varieties such as Black Magic. Growing directions can be found at:

I don't know how, but I have seen them in Rose Catalogs. Sorry, not much help, I can't remember the name of the company. I guess you could try putting a light colored rose in water with black food coloring in it.

put a white rose plant and water it with water wif black dye... the xylem vessel will carry water around and the rose will become black...
