Hi guys! I'm just surprised with the fact that my desktop computer cannot access a specific website (ufc.nba.com), unlike the laptop which can access it without any problems. I used the same net connection for both, and for some reason, the site would'nt load at the desktop. I've tried almost every solution I can think of (downloaded firefox, updated Java and Flash, turned off firewall) but still no luck. Please help! Thanks

In response to your answers, I've succesfully enabled java and java script. I've also configured Firefox to accept cookies. But still I can't access ufc.nba.com.

I tried to ping the site from the command prompt but it said 'request timed out'

What the hell is wrong with my desktop? What's bugging me is why my laptop can easily access it. Please help. Thanks.

Possible reason(s):
1. Proxy settings are different in 2 machines.
2. Desktop doesn't have the IE version thats needed for above said website.
3. Cache required/RAM reqd for the web page to load is not available in desktop.

It's good that you thought to update java and flash, that's usually the problem. Having done that, the next thing I would check is you security in the web browser. Perhaps your desktop is set not to accept cookies.

In Firefox, Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies > Allow sites to set cookies

Then check to see that Java is enabled

In Firefox, Tools > Options > Content > Enable Java, and Java Script

With some websites, you can send a ping to see if you have a connection, however, I tried ufc.nba.com and didn't get a responce. I'll give you the steps, because you can get additional information from this process. Open the Command Prompt from the Start menu. Type

ping ufc.nba.com

Although I didn't get a responce, you can get the IP address from that. 216.203.30.78 which you can type into your browser instead of ufc.nba.com

If that doesn't work, then you desktop obviously doesn't like the NBA. You should see if it likes other sports and encourage it to follow it's dreams.

Make sure your firewall or HOSTS file (search microsoft how to view and use) isn't blocking on the desktop. Any parental filtering involved?
