A while ago I head someone talking about having lots and lots of children. The guy next to him suddenly started prattling on about how "the world is overpopulated and having more children means straining Mother Earth's resources" in the lame hippy way as quoted. Yes he really did say "Mother Earth", as if little babies who munch on Gerber are going to somehow destroy all life on a 6.0 × 10^24 kg rock!

For the record, the person considering having kids is very rich, noone is going to starve.

What's up with this hippy?

There are plenty of kids starving in the world...maybe he is upset because he feels the rich person could do so much good for the starving children of the world, but instead chooses to be kind of ..."genetically selfish"...if that makes sense.

Its really not his place to say anything though...he should have known the person wouldnt really care or understand hat he had to say, and was going to do what they were going to do regardless. If it meant that much to him, he'd quit ranting on and on and help instead of wasting breath on lost causes.

There are many people who have no children at all--and many, in today's world, who are only having one child. What harm is it if those with the means and the ability to handle it want to have a large family? Someone has to carry on the human race.
