At 17. I came home late from work and saw that my extremely conservative Christian mom had ransacked my room (I was always a shy and good kid but she was so sure she would catch me with drugs or something), and when I saw that the matress was pulled onto the floor I realized that she had found my little guy's diary book that I had under my matress which detailed how my uncle molested me when I was 7 (which she knew nothing about and which I had no intention of ever telling her). She was already asleep, but there was a note saying "I want to talk to you in the morning". I was so terrified that my mom was going to drag me to church for an exorcism or have me committed for shock treatment to cast out gay devils that I grabbed the few valuable things that I had, ran away in the middle of the night, stayed in the streets for about a week, and then hopped a plane to California to stay with a relative. It took almost three years before I spoke to her again.
