Interesting question. When does food become a pet or a pet become dinner. That would depend entirely on what part of the world you were raised in. India, cattle are sacred, Peru, Guinea Pigs are food.
The true question should read: How hungry will you get before "Fido" or "Fifi" start looking like a hamburger?

I am a true animal lover, but God put some animals on this planet to love and some to nourish our bodies. He even told us which ones were right to eat. Jesus ate meat, so let people do what they do and try not to look down on us. I do not look down on you or anyone else who doesn't eat meat. I just know that you are missing out on some really good food.

I cant see eating cats or dogs but I admit to eating cows and chickens. Society has trained us as a whole that chickens and cows are brought into this world to feed us, not to be pets. Dogs and cats, the opposite. Im not saying weather or not that is the way it should be, (thats not for me to decide) thats just the way society is.
I for one wouldnt mind at all if animal meat was outlawed. They soy burgers are yummy in my opinion.

God put man over the animals...this doesnt give man the right to abuse them...but animals were meant to be eaten (certain ones) and used for labour (certain ones) so i believe to that some were meant to be companions (certain ones). i am an animal lover and i cant stand to see an animal abused. i live on a farm. i have raised rabbits and poultry and killed both for dinner. i kill them as quickly and painlessly as i can. while i am raising them they receive good care and yes affection, i cant help it. so i guess that is my answer.
