Do doctors check for drugs in urine samples in physical check-ups?

Question

I have a physical check-up in about 1 week and I wanted to know if they tested for drugs when they take your urine sample.

I'm getting a physical check-up, just those annual ones where you go to the doc's, they check your height, ears, nose, heartbeat, etc. I wanted to know if they check for drugs when they ask for a urine sample, this isn't for a job or anything.

If the urine sample is requested as part of a routine physical there should not be any reason for the doctor to screen for drugs. Even if the doctor did discover drugs in your system, doctor-patient confidentiallity prevents the doctor from disclosing any information without your express permission.

If you are a minor, under the age of 18, your parents may request a a drug screen, but likely this would not involve urine.

Not unless they are specifically screening for drugs. Normally they are just checking your blood sugar. If they really wanted to check for drugs, they would take a hair sample cause drugs don't stay in urine for more than a couple days.

There should be no reason to check for drugs. Unlike job physicals, MDs should discuss all testing with you. Drug screen is not routine at all.

No, not as a rule. They are probably checking for ketones in your urine.

They check to see if it reacts to certain things. If it reacts to chemical x that they put in it.. then they'll know.

maybe if they expect you are on drugs. and doing a cleanse with drinks will not help and neither will nician...
