you don't want vista, atleast not now. wait till the price comes down and the bugs are work out of it. give it atleast 8 months.
plus XP runs faster and has no manditory updates, unlike vista which is also insanely locked down with so much sucurity. it runs slow unless you ahve a good machine

Do i have to pay for vista if i bought a laptop with XP? Having XP does not automatically qualify for a free Vista upgrade. Call the company you bought your computer from and ask them.

How much does vista cost?
Ever heard of Froogle???

Some computer companies may provide free upgrade to vista. If not, u can purchase one at all good computer stores. Vista is not extremely expensive, just a bit above XP

If it came with an express upgrade to Vista, then it's free + shipping. That's what I did. I love Vista.

if your laptop has XP, you can upgrade to Vista, by purchase the "upgrade" version, NOT full version. Upgrade version requires XP or other Windows OS. Full version doesn't need, since it will delete and format and install everything freshly new. Upgrade will just install "over" your XP system. Upgrade is much cheaper than full.

Unless you have Vista pre-installed as a freebie, DO NOT upgrade. No one I know who has upgraded from XP has had a pleasant experience.
