I wouldn't make this a permanent relationship idea.

Sometimes people who are depressed need attention and friendship and guidance.

Right. Even if he is a citizen its a bad idea to get involved in a new relationship with someone who suffers from depression. I am bi-polar & am primarily depressed. I would not want to live with me. Depression is catching. There are plenty of people out there who are not depressed; find one & you'll be happier.

You cannot fix this person. He needs a professional & medication. Don't become a 'mother' to him. He will drain you of energy. Time goes by fast; use it well by looking for a normal give-&-take relationship.

Let's see.... someone who is financially dependent on others, whose status in the country is no permanent, and who when they are down and depressed will push you away. So, what's in it for you?
Yep, unless you need a high maintenance guy who seemingly offers little to the relationship, pass on this one.

NOONE needs to be alone when they are depressed. They may commit suicide.
Its a bad idea if your not strong enough to handle all the elements that comes from being with that person.
Maybe refer them to help?

Good luck
