Here are my thoughts, take them or leave them.
Whenever I dream, anything yellow is usually a symbol of change in a relationship. Since this dream was about a friend who used to be close, we can obviously assume it's with him. He put the shoes in his closet; he's keeping you close, but not too close. Since the shoes were new and you gave them to him, I think it shows you want the relationship to change, but now the ball is in his court. New and shiny could symbolize you will begin to notice things about him you never saw before, like in a new light.
Hope this helps... good luck!

Dreams have meaning. They are your sub-conscious thoughts hidden in a code that is a dream.

In your dream, you are probably sad that you and your friend are no longer close. Many signs point to this:

*The color of the shoes, yellow: It is a sign of confidence in and abilities but will encounter opposition. The opposition was probably the drifting apart of you and your friend.

*Your friend didn't wear the shoes, just put them away. This means that you gave him something (love/friendship) but he didn't give it back or accept it after a while.

*The fact that you both are no longer very close

Lesson: You should move on, and find another good friend to rely on. Stop brooding about the past.

Hope it helps!

Dreams do not mean anything, we have many every night, thousands, but we only remember certain ones most of the time.
