okay I want to establish a debate. The question for this debate is simple:
Why is homosexuality such a bad thing? Why is it feared so much?
Please only answers that are thought out and please do not just use bible scriptures unless you forgot 'let ye who is free from sin cast the first stone'.

I put this in the family section because it affects families, friends and significant others. This does not just pertain to lesbians, bisexuals, gays and transgenders.

Take into consideration though, one species of lizard has no male they are all female. THey procreate just fine. In fact science is showing that the y chromosome is shrinking which means that in a few thousand years male humans may very well be extinct.

It is seen as a bad thing and feared because of a persons upbringing. Our grandparents and parents taught us from their history. We a programmed with a certain thought process and unless we are also exposed to a variety of things regularly, we will continue with their teachings. I lived in fear of every crust I ate causing my hair to become more and more curly. Religion was taken much more literally in history, but now it is open to more acceptable debate. I do believe that as a race we are over coming fear of the unknown or inexperienced. We can't do it all at once, thoughts and patterns need time. I know we should all be more accepting faster, but it's not going to happen that way. We are getting better at it though. Each successive generation is being more and more tolerant of life's variations. My grandparents still"tutt tutt" about homosexuality where as my parents talk about it more openly while still not accepting it, and then I accept it totally. Time. I know it doesn't help gay people facing phobics now.

Why is homosexuality such a bad thing?
- religious reasons, people think it's a sin
- people think it's unnatural
-say you have a gay man couple, they want a child, the doctor finds a way to make a man pregnant, which is also unnatural and people are against that
- for the two reasons above, homosexuality is often turned down upon in society. this can make it harder for the person to get certain jobs, make friends, etc. that's why parents have a hard time dealing with their child's sexuality.
Why is it feared so much?
- it's different, people are afraid of change

It is only feared by religious people that believe there is a magic man in the sky, and the have a reason to fear it, look at how many priests are homosexuals, they are loosing most of their best priests! and for the people that say they can't have children, so they should not marry, well then I guess you would have to support a ban on heterosexual marriages that don't conceive children? if people get married and don't have kids by lets say the first three years, then they should have their marriages annulled right?

Well for starters it is just not natural. The whole natural purpose behind the sex act is to procreate...everyone knows this.
Secondly, I will tell you why I think it is wrong. I was with someone for NINE YEARS before he "decided" he was gay. I wasted NINE YEARS of my life with someone that was so deceitful and could not decide what he wanted. How selfish!!!!. You might say to yourself " this doesn't happen that often" Wrong, people came out of the woodwork to tell me of either their own similar experience or that of someone they know. This guy wasted NINE YEARS of my life. I am now single because I cannot trust men not knowing who is gay and who is not. Repulsive!
Kris: so by your theory that we should not worry about what goes on behind closed doors, we should not worry about pedophiles attacking children or people being raped.

Unfortunately, you cannot control who you fall in love with and thats a fact. However, the reason why I believe people fear it so much is because they feel that if they accept it or associate them selves with homosexuals they may also go through that same path. People fear what they can't control.

no one should worry about what others are doing in their own homes. NO ONE.
is it anyones business if you pick your nose in your own home? or walk around naked.
why should anyone care who anyone else is sleeping with either.
if more people worried more about themselves and what they were doing in their own lives the world would be a better place!!!

What's so hard to understand an "abomination"? it's not natural. Man and woman was created to reproduct naturally. Homosexuality cannot do this - they must use artifical means to reproduce.
