GG Gal you confused Cool.
The poor baby is now confused and it looks like she is blaming you.
It must be a right wing conspiracy.
Green Mohawks are really cool. They were really cool in the 60s too.

Poor SAW hates America and thinks pressing one serves all Americans right for stealing this land.
Yes GG, you must have stole this land. It is your fault that SAW is angry and hateful even though she thinks you and I are.

Our nation is actually comprised of many different cultures. The US has to be tolerant of any other culture or peoples living within its borders. We are called the Melting Pot Of The World. Everyone who migrates to the US brings their culture, language, and viewpoints with them. However harmful in nature, the new "Politically Correct" theme is now used by our Law Makers to deal with all the differences in our country. As you have learned from history, just because a quick fix makes you look good now, doesn't solve the problem. It only puts a band aid on it. The more our country leans toward Individualism and less to Democracy, we will only see more of our freedoms taken away in the name of P.C.
I for one wish our Government would stick to the original Constitution and forget about making everyone happy. This is the U.S. not another country. I served for 8 years in the US Army because I love my country and the freedom it offers me. You don't see me changing myself just because it may offend any one. Remember how this country was founded.
Enough of the Politically Correctness or Affirmative Action. That is why we have laws!!!! If English is the national language, then so be it. Why change it to suit any one race of people. English is considered the Univeral Language. It is used in every country of the world. I am not a lawmaker, just a voter.
I am not a extremist, just a God Fearing, Flag Waving, American who is proud of his country and those who serve under the Flag of the United States.
Hope this helps.

What are you talking about?
1. Are you talking about the phone? That's not a PC, that's a telephone.
2. Your ancestors had to learn English? What does that have to do with anything?
I'm confused...

1 word..............liberals! I'm w/ you 100%. I'm all about celebrating and appreciating the plethora of different cultures and heritages which exist in US, but a standard language is one of the most important unifying facets of any society, especially 1 as diverse as ours. The main problem is that there are so many Mexicans, and they breed like rabbits, and they keep running across the border, because there country is poor, and corrupt, and don't seem to have a lot of chances for its people to do good. I like Mexico and Mexicans, but I don't want to live there. I think it's crucial that Uncle Sam maintains a strong Anglo identity at his core. If we let our great country become to sullied by Mexicans, we may start to have more and more of the same problems as Mexico. After all, I think that 3rd-world people are more likely to have 3rd-world behaviour and 3rd-world kids. We must only let Mexicans in US, if they agreed to be permanently sterilized. I realize that this may be harsh, but what other option have we? We've already got to deal w/ the grave injustices perpetrated against US Blacks, and try to help them become more enfranchised. I'm starting to babel.

Get over yourself. Is pushing a button really that much work? It doesn't even compare to the challenge of learning a new language!!
Besides, your ancestors may have come from an english-speaking country, or they could have lived in neighborhoods that spoke their native tongue. Our country is too inter-mixed these days to have neighborhoods explicitly for people who don't speak english. And it would be considered unconstitutional since it was ruled that seperate is not equal.
Push the button, and stop your whining!!
People that complain about PC are really complaining about change. Change HAPPENS! the only way to avoid it is to die or live on a deserted island like a hermit.
CORRECTION FOR BRANDIWYNE: Actually, I have travelled to six different asian countries and they do have everything written in English as well as their language even though their citizens do not speak english. It's just that we, as Americans, are used to the rest of the world catering to us. Is it really that hard to be just as considerate to others?

are you sure your ancestors learned English? I know for a fact that both of my great-grand parents from Germany never learned english when they moved here, as well as the old Italian lady that lived across the street from me when I was growing up. What's the big deal?

You know, our national language was very close to being German. And only by a narrow victory did our ancestors make no language the official language of the USA. They decided by choosing no one language, they honored all the immigrants who came to this country from all over the world. As we should do, through the spirit of tolerance. Not every American citizen chooses to speak English, and actually, that's their right...right now. Of course, with rights disappearing all over now, I'm sure your days of being so rudely put through all that extra effort are numbered.

English a common language in any anglospeaking country and there are a few "street"terms, not everybody speaks a foreign language and plus there has to be a level of understanding that is common amongst people.

Yes I am tired of being asked to press 1 for English!!!!
As long as we have an illegal immigration problem, with people who refuse to assimilate to the American way of life we will be pressing 1.

Totally agree. I HATE pressing 1 for English when I am calling my child's SCHOOL! No wonder they have to have classes in spanish, apparently it is acceptable to NOT LEARN ENGLISH! How?? My father-in-law whom recently passed away came here from Poland. He HAD to learn english to get along and become successful. Apparently that is no longer true. If I went to another country to live I would not expect them to understand what I am saying and I would certainly NOT demand that they print things in my language. I would have to make the effort to make myself understood in THEIR native language. Why should we be any different??
