Some small town and weekly newspapers will hire a person for town meetings and such in the beginning, to cover them and to get experience. Some newspapers like to have readers send in photos. This is a way to get a foot in the door. I have an Associates Degree in Journalism and have yet to obtain a decent position, but I am still trying.

It helps to be efficient in spelling and grammar if you desire to work for a magazine or newspaper. If this is a weakness for you, become proficient with a spell check and grammar check. You will not find an editor that will tolerate basic grammatical and spelling errors.

There is a box in the front of all magazines and newspapers that prints information on how to contact the company if you desire to do so.

I don't and you won't either if you don't learn how to spell check!
