THAT's a very scary question. Who are you planning on doing in?
Okay, enough to cover the body HOWEVER, it won't dissolve the body, it will help to mask the smell and will help the body to degrade faster. It will still take a LONG time.

Lye is a strong base. Like a strong acid, it can have severe dissolving effects of the skin and other tissues. Enough to cover the body would be sufficient for the skin and outer muscle tissues. Another coat would probably be necessary for inner tissues. It would take a really long time to do this though, the process would not be as instant as it sounds. The bones would still be left due to the thickness and hardness. Lye can be purchased in large quantities at a hardware or grocery store. It is commonly used as a drain opener for plumbing.

Buying large quantites of lye is actually pretty difficult, your best bet is to over shoot how much you think you need. So lets say maybe 30-50 pounds.
Getting the lye you'd need to be able to find a way to disguise why you want it, if you needed it for a illegal reason, so claim you are making soap, which lye is a main ingredient
In my sources is a website that has a link of sellers of Lye, Online, that can be tracked though, so tread carefully.

Why, do you have a 180 lb. body to dispose of? Need some lye real quick? Boy, the mob aint what it used to be. If we find you hiding under a tree in my area we're going to beat you with frozen fish. We're sick of this. Just keep buying lye til grandpa's body is gone. I'm sure you're just trying to pay your respects.
sincerely

Where is everyone getting this "Large quantities" nonsense. 8 pounds of lye would dissolve multiple bodies and you can get it at hardware stores and soap making stores.

I don't think that lye dissolves bodies. It probably makes them rather mushy.
