Does anyone know any sites with pictures of different badge's that were given in the war?

Do badges from the war userally have writing about the war on them? And are they worth anything at all?

I found a badge today tucked right at the back of a cabinet that belonged to my grandad who died not long ago and was wondering wether it is anything to do with the war. It's sterling silver and looks old. It's probally just a random badge, but I'm curious =]

Thanks theatrefan1, I didn't think to add where I was from, lol. I'm from the UK.

The badge has a what look likes to be a horn at the bottom.. that might help.

As far as I know my grandad lived in the South east all his life, so I don't think he was connected with the North east, but I don't know for sure.

I took a picture of the badge..

Just to let you know your grandfather, or the owner of that badge served with the Light Infantry Regiment, and all you need to do is google British Army Regiments and then follow links from there.

I afraid its worth squat, but if you are interested in researching your Grandfather's military career (lets just presume its your grandfathers badge for now) then you would need to get in touch with 'manning & records, it used to be in Glasgow when i was in, the chances are it still is. But investigate the web sites first, and they will lead you there, good luck

This badge was used by the Light Infantry and Rifle regiments .There are a number of sights who list and catalogue badges and insignia for sale but of course you can look without buying.Look for Militaria on net.

You did not say where you are from that makes a difference..each country has different badges, in addition like in the us there are 5 branches of the military and they each have badges that are distinctive to a branch or unit, same applies in the uk etc. So need a little more info to help you out

Without, actually, SEEING the item, you refer to, I could not say, what it IS, for absoluttely, CERTAIN, my friend, - but, from your little description, - it DOES sound, rather like the CAP BADGE, of the DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY regiment! Let me know, if the late gentlman had any connections, with the North East of England, and, I MIGHT be able to help you, some more!

I wholeheartedly agree that they should place up on their trailers and autos who helps them. inspite of each little thing we the little people who're over taxed, must be attentive to who's helping the applicants who're supposedly attempting to coach issues around and attempting to help us in our economic disaster, turn around and finally end up helping their pals on the corporate empires. Who positioned them in workplace.
