It started about the time there was a "health" awareness, and they decided having the word "fried" in their company name wasn't the best thing in the world, so they made it "kfc" and did what they could to give the company an edgy look (not that it mattered) and switched everyone over to "KFC".

Not only is that true, but that's my 5000th point answer!

When PepsiCo foods took over Kentucky Fried Chicken they wanted a marketing cliche. Couldn't get their message across like they wanted to without long drawn out verbiage. It was more practical, then Yum brands acquired them and stuck with what they had been given.

Now that the American consumer has become more concerned with health and dieting, the word "fried" has become taboo. They are calling it "kitchen fresh chicken" as a marketing ploy to stop you from thinking of fattening foods. They are just trying to adjust to an altered society.

People are too lazy to say the whole name of the place, so they just made it easier by calling it plain ole KFC

It may only be an URBAN LEGEND, but I seem to recall hearing that the KFC company has genetically modified its chickens to not have feet. The Food & Drug Administartion would not allow the KFC company to call its product "Chiken"anymore. They could call it "Poultry"

Corporate thought that was a better marketing strategy. They are also trying to get the pope to bless their fish sandwich.

They try to ignore the fact that it is fried. Hoping people will forget.
