Its an empty spare room that was going to be my baby's room. The smell is worse in damp weather and smells like stinky feet.

smell comes and goes but definately worse in damp weather. Plumber came and "looked" at some pipes. This room shares a wall with a bathroom but said he didnt see anything.....could the mold be under the hardwood floor or between the wall?

It could be mold! Get a mold test kit and check. pull up the corners of the carpet and press into the walls with a knife to see if they give under slight pressure. DO NOT put your child in there until you find out! Mold is very dangerous especially to infants.

Bacteria causes oder. If there is damp in the room it could be mold. This is a baby. Rip out the carpet or refinish the floors, clean the room within an inch of hospital sterile and give a coat of a stain blocking primer and a coat of mildew resistant paint.

If you have a central unit, you may have "dirty sock syndrome". If the room is close to the central unit, have the coils cleaned or check them to see if they need replacing.
