i TRIED, as in, didn't succeed. I feel really bad, but what I really wonder is why anyone would say something like that.
it was during lunch, and a few little bugs/mosquito things were floating around our table, so a fe of the girls start trying to kill it with their textbooks, and i TRIED to place it on a leaf so I could put it somewhere else, but before i could do that one of the girls stepped on it, and killed it.
and i got mad, so they said, "what? it's just a stupid bug." and then some people who were watching called me gross, because apparantly, girls aren't supposed to like and try to save bugs. so according to them, i was 'gross'.
why is that? what's happened to the world?

They're morons. Tell them you'll save it and if they don't like it, they can simply sod off. You won't be the one who killed the poor thing. And besides, insects are VERY important. If those gals paid attention in class instead of whatever else it is they do, they'd know that.

They have great field guides too, good for learning about all sorts of critters.

You certainly get a lot of mileage out of a bug. I admire your big heart. I suspect your friends were just trying to be cool. Cool is overrated, you keep being compassionate. I am assuming you care for species other then bugs as well, but that is probably a safe assumption.

I think what you did proves that you are a soft-hearted and kind person. Most people simply do not like bugs or disregard their value in the ecosystem. Don't let them change who you are.
