Detroit is one point behind nashville and 2 points ahead of the ducks. With an easy schedule (besides the remaining games with nashville), will Detroit end up the top team in the west again? If they do does it jinx them for another 1st round exit?

I was saying that they have an easy schedule (without nashville) because that leaves 10 games, 5 of which are against columbus or chicago and they don't have a lot of travel after the CGY and VAN roadtrip.

I say that they have a 50% shot of taking the division, but they're schedule isnt exactly easily. They do have a lot of home games, but they have 2 games against Nashville, and 1 game each against Clagary, Vancouver, Anaheim, and Dallas. All of those teams are fighting for position right now so I wouldnt expect them to be push overs. As for the playoffs, the only way I see them losing in the 1st round is if they play San Jose. San Jose isnt the greatest team in the league, but I think they are the best equiped to be Detroit. Im also guessing that this is probably Haseks last year in the league, so I think hes really going to play well when he has to considering this might be his last shot. Even though Datsyuk hasnt been great in the playoffs (but remember he was playing injured last post season), his contract is up at the end of this season and hes asking for a lot of money, so putting up numbers is going to be really important to him. Also, Calder is doing better than anyone could have expected and hes making the people around him better too, just look at Langs numbers since playing with him. Detroits first line is great and their second line is doing well right now and will get better when Bertuzzi finally comes in. They have a great defensive 3rd line, and their is some promising young talent on the fourth led by Filpula. They have great defensman, and a more than capable goaltending tandem. As long as they put in the effort, they have as good of a chance as anybody to go all the way.

As a Predators fan, I really hate to admit this, but I think the Red Wings are about 60% likely to take the top conference seed, with the Predators 25% and Ducks at 15%.

The Red Wings are traditionally very strong season finishers, and this season seems to be no different.

The Predators still have troubles finishing out a season, and have yet to prove they can make that final drive. But if they can win in Detroit tonight, and get some of their injured players back, they may just hold off the Red Wings long enough.

The Ducks are on a tear of their own at the end. If the Wings and Predators split the last games of their series, this gives Anaheim tremendous help to sneak by while the former two beat each other down.

The Wings also have another game to play, and they play Nashville at home tommorow. The wings boast the NHL's best home record with only 4 losses, and with 7 of there last 12 games at home you can bet that they will sit atop the west when all is said and done. The wings will probably play Minnesota or Calgary in the first rd of which neither can play on the road so the wings will stay in the playoffs for a long long long time...

Some of these Predictions are pretty far fetched, for starters Penguins in second? there's not a chance im sure they'll make the playoffs but second is way over shooting also Boston i love boston but once again i think 3rd slot is going to be overshooting, and the likelihood of atlanta making the playoffs would just shock me, other than those the East prediction looks decent as to you Western prediction don't get me started, Vancouver's good but #1 is far out of their reach and as for Chicago i would honestly be surprised if they even made #6 with their new line up, LA in 3rd? last year was amazing they made it to 6 i predict they squeak in at #8 this year and Red Wings in 6? that's way out there only reason they only made #5 this year was injuries and a rocky guy in net at the beginning of the season i would be shocked if they finished anywhere below 3rd. just my thoughts though i suppose.

I don't think they are tough enough for the play-offs. Remember the #8 seed went to the finals last year in the west. If they draw SJ then I could see them losing. If they draw Minnesota or Calgary then home ice will help because they are poor road teams. Vancouver and Dallas could be bad draws for them too. The west is tough and it all hinges on what Hasek (or if Hasek) decides to show up. Also, their 2 young guys (Datsyuk/Zetterberg) have to get that huge monkey off their back.

I don't really care if they win the division title or not.Nashville is their strongest competition right now. I think when they get past them they will play Buffalo in the finals and win.GO WINGS!!!!!!

yes, the predators are to beat up, and they will lose it. unless the Wings lose datsyuk and lidstrom to injury, they will win it.
