The same reason souveniers fetch the high prices at auction and people eat weird things. The grass is always greener on the other side, and what we have in abundance we tend to devalue.

Besides, for all that love is a pretty awesome emotion, there's a lot of trust and understanding that needs to go on for it to happen. I don't know if you read the news, but I'm pretty sure we could use a lot more of THOSE two things.
