Not for gaming, but for applications. I want all my applications (non-game) and windows to run super-fast.

Is there a difference between RAM for gamers/PC enthusiasts, and RAM for regular applications?

Applications use the RAM that is installed on your motherboard. Games use the RAM that is on the video card.To speed up applications, get more RAM for the motherboard - whatever type is needed for your particular computer brand and model.
